The UPW have little distinction between their military forces and their law enforcement. The military within the UPW functions as both an invading force but also as a garrisonning defensive force and have different divisions including a military police who act as the main law enforcement in the cities and colonies. The military are often trained in CQB warefare due to the nature of their planets being made from what is basically gigantic crates. Although these are incredibly large and have many towns and cities within them they have very little in the way of wide open fields, in fact buildings and cities line the entirety of most colonies and due to this weaponry such as monofilament chain-wire gladius's and titan glass shields are incredibly useful in battle lines.
The UPW often fight like line infantry, the first line of each group wielding the gladius and shield combination with lines behind firing over the top of them with a mix of rifles, smg's and occasionally heavier weaponry. Their main tactic is an aggressive one of moving in this block towards the enemy, relying on their shields to keep them protected and their guns to suppress the enemy until they get close enough to be truly effective. This fighting style is usually used to quell rebellions and incredibly effective against small, usually poorly armed rebel forces.
Invading forces will often change up tactics to deal with the different battlefields but they will always try to fight on their own terms in close quarters and struggle in open fights due to their main preference for close ranged weaponry.
