The Darkstars (also known as Los Darkstars) are a mercenary group that are fairly known throughout UN space and even in non UN space. They started as a small time street gang on earth in the american state of Neo Mexico. The Darkstars eventually rose to take control of various parts of Neo Mexico under the guise of their leader 'Darkstar'. The gang eventually began to start taking money to hit certain people within their territory and inevitably that eventually expanded into a mercenary group.
Today the darkstars are a very well known and very professional group, priding themselves on having elite agents and 'affordable' fees. Although the UN keep a close eye on the group they have not moved against them and have even recruited from their ranks on occasion for prestigious military roles.
There are some who think that darkstar himself is just a title held by whoever is in command at the time. And when that person is killed it goes onto the next. But there are also some who think that Darkstar is just one person and has always been the same. But the group has been operating for 40 years now, so if it is the same person he's either getting old or perhaps started very young. Or maybe cybernetics are involved, but only his closest generals have any inkling of who he is.
